Accra, Ghana — August 15, 2026: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has concluded its 2026 Regional Executive Elections in several regions across Ghana, with a number of prominent party figures securing decisive victories while some contests went down to the wire.

The elections, which were held to elect new regional executives ahead of the party’s preparations for the next electoral cycle, produced notable victories in key regions including Ashanti, Greater Accra, Central, Bono, Bono East, North East, Savannah, Upper West, Volta and Western.

However, the regional elections are not yet completely concluded, as the Western North Region is scheduled to hold its election on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

COKA polled 658 votes, while Kokofu obtained 269 votes, giving COKA a massive 389-vote winning margin.

What the results mean for the NPP

The results point to a combination of continuity and change within the NPP’s regional structures.

While some incumbents, including Abronye DC, Fusheini Nurudeen and Makafui Kofi Woanyah, managed to retain their positions, other regions witnessed new leadership.

The strong victories recorded by COKA in Ashanti and Okoe-Boye in Greater Accra are particularly significant because of the strategic importance of both regions to the NPP’s national political fortunes.

At the same time, the narrow victories in Savannah and Volta demonstrate that competition within the party remains intense in some regions.

The Western North Region is expected to complete the regional elections on August 16, after which a fuller picture of the NPP’s new regional leadership structure will emerge.

Note: The percentages in this report are calculated from the reported valid votes for the respective chairmanship contests. Results for regions where complete vote figures could not be independently verified have not been added to the table to avoid publishing unconfirmed figures.
